Norton 360 for Gamers is a specialized version of Norton's popular 360 Deluxe suite, built specifically for PC gamers who need strong security without sacrificing performance during play. Norton developed this edition with input from the gaming community to address threats that are more common in gaming environments, such as compromised gaming accounts, DDoS attacks, and disruptive malware that can affect frame rates or system responsiveness. It covers up to 3 devices per subscription, which can be a mix of PCs, Macs, smartphones, or tablets, making it flexible for gamers who also want protection on their other devices.
The standout addition in this edition is Norton Game Optimizer, a feature that automatically detects when a game is running and redirects system resources toward it while reducing background app interference. This is designed to help minimize FPS drops and stuttering during gameplay, particularly on systems where multiple background processes might otherwise compete for CPU and memory. Alongside this, Full-Screen detection works to silence non-critical notifications and alerts while a game is running in full-screen mode, cutting down on distractions during competitive or immersive sessions.
Beyond the gaming-specific tools, Norton 360 for Gamers retains the full set of protections found in the standard Norton 360 lineup. This includes a Secure VPN that Norton says helps guard against DDoS attacks, doxxing, and SWATing, all of which are risks more commonly associated with online gaming communities. It also includes PC Cloud Backup for safeguarding important files, a Password Manager for handling login credentials, Dark Web Monitoring to flag exposed personal data, and Parental Control tools for households with younger gamers. Independent reviewers such as PCMag have noted that this edition is essentially Norton 360 Deluxe with a few gamer-oriented extras layered on top, though it is often priced slightly higher per device than the standard Deluxe plan.
