Oaken is a turn-based tactical roguelike developed by Laki Studios and published by Goblinz Publishing and Surefire.Games. It left Early Access and fully launched on July 20, 2023 for PC and Nintendo Switch, with the Steam version supporting Windows, macOS, and Linux.
The game is set in a world inhabited by spirits, centered on the Great Oak. Your task is to journey through the tree, wake the spirits, and save the Oak from the forces threatening it.
Battles take place on a tactical board. You deploy units and use positioning to your advantage, since where a unit stands affects how it attacks and defends. Smart placement often matters more than raw strength.
Each run, you gather allies and trinkets and decide how to upgrade your cards. Choices about which allies to recruit and which upgrades to take shape your build, so no two runs play quite the same. When a run ends, you start again, using what you learned about enemies and card combinations to push further.
Oaken is single-player. It suits fans of tactics games, deckbuilding roguelikes, and short, replayable runs where planning and positioning decide the outcome. It also runs on modest hardware.
PC: PC keys activate on Steam. The Steam version supports Windows, macOS, and Linux and needs about 2 GB of storage.
Nintendo Switch: Switch codes redeem on the Nintendo eShop. Check the region on each offer before you buy.
Extras: A separate Supporter Pack is sold as DLC on Steam. Check whether a listing is the base game or the add-on.
Before you buy, check the activation platform and region on each offer, then follow our guide on how to activate your CD key. To learn more about the studio and game, visit the official Laki Studios website.
