Phantom Abyss is an action-adventure game developed by Team WIBY and published by Devolver Digital. After an early access period that started in June 2021, version 1.0 launched on January 25, 2024 for PC and Xbox Series X|S.
Each run sends you into a procedurally generated temple to recover a sacred relic. You sprint, jump and whip your way past hidden traps, deep chasms and guardians that chase you through branching paths. Keys found in chests unlock deeper, deadlier sections of the temple that hold more valuable relics, so pushing on is always a gamble.
The big twist is that you get only one attempt per temple. If you fail or settle for a lesser relic, that temple is gone for you. When someone claims the legendary relic at the bottom, the temple disappears for everyone and becomes that player's trophy.
Multiplayer is asynchronous. You explore alongside up to 20 phantoms of players, including Steam friends, who already tried the same temple. Watching where they died teaches you what to avoid, and you can grab their whips as they fall.
Phantom Abyss suits players who like parkour, trap-dodging and high-stakes runs, and who enjoy learning from other players without needing to coordinate a group or schedule sessions with friends.
PC key: The PC version activates on Steam and requires 64-bit Windows 10.
Xbox version: The Xbox Series X|S version is sold through the Microsoft Store as a separate purchase; Steam keys do not work on Xbox.
