Ratatan is a rhythm roguelike action game developed by TVT Co. Ltd. and Ratata Arts and published by Game Source Entertainment. It entered Early Access on Steam for Windows PC on September 18, 2025.
You lead a Ratatan, a small animal-like hero, and a crowd of followers called Cobuns. Commands are entered as rhythm sequences in time with the music, telling your army which direction to go, while the Ratatan itself can be moved freely around the battlefield.
Combat is side-scrolling and crowded, with more than 100 characters fighting in large melees. Deciding where to give orders, where to position your Ratatan and when to retreat matters as much as keeping the beat.
Runs follow a roguelike structure, so failure sends you back to try again with new choices. The game supports online co-op for up to four players, and the Steam page also lists single-player and full controller support.
The story begins on Rataport, an island where the Ratatans dream of reaching The Everafter to meet the Goddess said to live there. Lively 2D animation gives each character its own personality.
The project was first funded through Kickstarter, and the Steam version supports ten languages, including English, French, German, Italian, Japanese and Korean, along with Steam Cloud saves and DualSense controller support.
It suits rhythm game fans, roguelike players who like co-op sessions with friends and anyone who enjoyed command-to-the-beat action games.
