Ratopia is a 2D city-building and survival strategy game developed and published by Cassel Games. It left Early Access with its full release on Steam on April 30, 2025, and is also available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.
You play as the queen of a growing rat city built in a side-view underground world. Unlike many city builders, you can walk around as the queen, dig tunnels, gather resources by hand, and fight threats directly while your citizens work.
Each rat citizen, or ratizen, has its own wealth and traits. You create jobs and services to keep them happy, then design a detailed economy through taxes and policies. Those policies can create prosperity or cause social disasters, so balancing the city is the main challenge.
Beyond the city, you send out expeditions to find the remains of ancient rats and bring back riches. Some adventures risk waking up apex predators, which adds a survival layer to the management side.
Ratopia suits players who enjoy colony sims and city builders with a hands-on twist, along with fans of 2D survival games who like managing an economy. It is a single-player game, and Steam Workshop support on PC adds extra community-made content.
PC and Mac: Most PC keys activate on Steam. The Steam version supports Windows and macOS.
Consoles: PS5 and Xbox codes are redeemed on PlayStation Network or a Microsoft account. Check the platform named on each listing.
Soundtrack: The Ratopia Soundtrack is sold as a separate add-on and is not needed to play.
Before you buy, check the activation platform and region on each offer, then follow our guide on how to activate your CD key. For more about the studio and its updates, visit the official Cassel Games website.
