Return to Grace is a first-person narrative adventure developed and published by the independent studio Creative Bytes Studios. It was released on PC on May 30, 2023, and later arrived on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One in February 2024.
You play as Adie Ito, a space archaeologist who has unearthed the resting place of Grace, an ancient A.I. that once watched over the solar system. The only voices left on the site belong to fractured versions of Grace, each with its own personality and motives. Adie's goal is to learn why Grace was shut down thousands of years ago, and what that means for the people she once protected.
Most of the game is exploration and conversation. You choose which personalities to trust and build relationships with, and those choices change the clues you find, how the story branches, and how it ends.
Light action moments break up the dialogue, including balance beam crossings, hacking old computer systems, and flying an awkward, flamethrowing jetpack. The setting borrows its look from 1960s science fiction, with retro machines, ruins, and wide views of space to explore between conversations.
Return to Grace is a single-player game designed to be finished in one evening, with replay value from different choices. It suits players who enjoy story-led walking adventures, mysteries, and short games with strong characters.
