Rogue Waters is a turn-based tactical roguelite developed by Ice Code Games and published by Tripwire Presents, the publishing label of Tripwire Interactive. It launched on PC on September 30, 2024, followed by PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch on February 4, 2025.
You play as Captain Cutter, a pirate seeking revenge on the immortal Captain Blackbone. Each run sends your ship across procedurally generated waters filled with rival factions, shops, and treasure, before you return to the Pirate Cave hub to upgrade the ship and crew.
Encounters start at sea. You aim cannons at specific modules of the enemy ship to weaken it before boarding. The fight then switches to grid-based melee, where pushing foes into obstacles and environmental hazards is often deadlier than a direct hit.
Your crew comes from six classes, each with its own abilities and upgrade paths. Injuries carry over between runs, so resting wounded pirates and rotating the roster is part of the strategy. You can also call on mythical sea creatures during battle.
The story unfolds across three acts and is played solo. Rogue Waters suits fans of tactics games such as Into the Breach or XCOM who enjoy positioning puzzles and the replay value of a roguelite.
PC (Steam): Most PC keys activate on Steam. The game requires a 64-bit Windows 10 system and about 6 GB of storage.
Consoles: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch codes are redeemed on PlayStation Network, a Microsoft account, or the Nintendo eShop.
DLC: The Dead in the Water expansion is sold separately and needs the base game.
