RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic is a theme park construction and management simulation published by Atari and developed by Origin8 Technologies, remastered with series creator Chris Sawyer. The PC version launched on Steam on September 28, 2017 for Windows and macOS, and the game is also available on Nintendo Switch.
It merges the best features of the original RollerCoaster Tycoon and RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 into a single game. You build rides, lay out footpaths, shape the landscape and place shops and stalls, then manage staff, marketing and finances to keep guests happy and the park profitable.
Coaster construction is the centerpiece. You can drop in pre-made designs or build track piece by piece, then theme each ride. The game includes hundreds of coaster and ride types, plus dozens of shops and facilities.
Progression runs through 95 classic park scenarios from both original games, ranging from Forest Frontiers to Megaworld Park. The Toolkit, Wacky Worlds and Time Twister expansion packs are included, along with a level editor. It is a single-player game with Steam Cloud saves.
It suits long-time fans who want the original isometric look and sound, and newer players looking for a deep but approachable park builder.
