ScourgeBringer is a fast-paced roguelite platformer developed by Flying Oak Games, the team behind NeuroVoider, with E-Studio, and published by Dear Villagers. It launched on October 21, 2020 for PC, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, and a PS4 version followed in 2021.
You play as Kyhra, the deadliest warrior of her clan, in a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by a mysterious entity. She descends into a shifting dungeon guarded by ancient machines, searching for the truth about her past and a way to save what remains of humanity.
Movement is the heart of the game. Kyhra can dash and stay airborne while chaining sword strikes, and she also carries a gun for ranged attacks. The combat system focuses on attacking rather than dodging, rewarding players who stay aggressive and keep moving. The developers call the controls super fluid, and Eurogamer described the game as Dead Cells meets Celeste.
Each run takes you through randomized rooms, upgrades, and large bosses. Between attempts you unlock permanent skills and learn more about the world from mementos left by earlier explorers. ScourgeBringer is a single-player game, and adjustable difficulty options help newer players.
Its soundtrack comes from Joonas Turner, known for Nuclear Throne and Downwell. ScourgeBringer suits players who like fast roguelites, precise platformers, and tough boss fights.
