Scurge: Hive is an isometric action-adventure game developed by Orbital Media and first released on Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS in 2006. Ratalaika Games and Shinyuden brought it back on October 10, 2025 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
You play as Jenosa Arma, a bounty hunter hired by the military to recover a research lab on the planet Inos. The cause of the disaster is Scurge, a parasite that can infect living things, machines, and computer systems. Jenosa's suit slows the infection, but it cannot stop it.
That idea shapes the gameplay. An infection meter rises over time, and once it hits 100 percent your health starts draining fast. Cleansing stations reset the meter and also act as save points, so you are always pushing toward the next one. Combat uses a rock-paper-scissors system: EMP, combustion, and dissipate weapons each beat one enemy type but make another stronger.
Exploration borrows from Metroid-style design. New upgrades open more of the map, and you jump, swing with a tether, and grab ledges between simple puzzles. This release spans six levels with boss fights, includes a Boss Rush, and offers save states, rewind, and optional cheats. It is a single-player game.
Scurge: Hive suits retro fans, players who missed the handheld original, and anyone who enjoys tense sci-fi action with a ticking clock.
PC (Steam): PC keys activate on Steam. The game runs on very modest hardware, starting at Windows 7.
