Serious Sam 4 is a first-person shooter developed by Croteam and published by Devolver Digital. It was released on September 24, 2020 for PC, followed by PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions in October 2021.

The game is a prequel to the original Serious Sam. Earth is under attack by the alien warlord Mental, and Sam "Serious" Stone leads a small squad across Europe and beyond to find a holy relic that could turn the war.

Combat is fast and loud. You face huge waves of enemies in wide open areas, from headless kamikazes to giant bosses, and answer with shotguns, miniguns, rocket launchers, and the cannon. The Legion system lets the engine fill the screen with very large crowds of enemies in some battles.

New to the series are a skill tree, gadgets that can turn a fight, and side missions that reward exploration. You can also drive vehicles, including motorbikes and a combine harvester. The full campaign can be played alone or in online co-op with friends.

Serious Sam 4 suits players who want pure arcade shooting, big arenas, and a game that does not take itself too seriously.
