Shadow Man Remastered is a remaster of the 1999 action-adventure game by Acclaim Studios Teesside, rebuilt by Nightdive Studios on its KEX Engine. It was released on PC on April 15, 2021, followed by PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch in January 2022.

You play Michael LeRoi, a man bound to a voodoo mask that turns him into Shadow Man, a warrior who moves between Liveside, the world of the living, and Deadside, the land of the dead. His task is to stop a group of serial killers and a coming apocalypse.

The game mixes third-person shooting, platforming and exploration across large interconnected levels. New abilities unlock paths in earlier areas, so backtracking and searching for secrets is a big part of the experience. All the secrets from the original N64, Dreamcast and PC versions are included, along with new ones.

Nightdive restored content cut from the original release, including three new levels, new enemies, extra weapons such as a sawed-off shotgun, and unused dialogue. Remastered music and sound effects come from the original composer, Tim Haywood.

Technical upgrades include 4K resolution support, high-refresh-rate output, dynamic lighting, improved shadows, a weapon wheel, better controls, tweaked AI and the option to switch between original and HD textures. It is a single-player game with more than 30 achievements.

It suits fans of late-1990s action-adventures, horror and occult stories, and players who enjoy exploration-heavy games with a dark tone.
