Shift Happens is a cooperative puzzle platformer developed by Klonk Games and published by Daedalic Entertainment. It was released on February 22, 2017 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, and was later released on Nintendo Switch.

You control Bismo and Plom, two jelly creatures who were linked in a lab accident. At any moment they can shift mass between each other, so one becomes big and heavy while the other turns small and light. Size decides who can press heavy switches, jump higher, or squeeze through narrow gaps.

Puzzles are built around that swap. Players throw each other across gaps, time shifts in mid-air, and coordinate to move through four worlds: a lab, overgrown forests, windy canyons, and icy caves. Coins and hidden extras give partners a reason to compete, and sometimes to sabotage each other. Each level also has a time challenge to beat.

The game shines in two-player co-op, available both locally on one screen and online. Solo players get a separate set of more than 30 single-player levels, so the game is not just co-op levels with a bot. Steam also supports Remote Play Together, so a friend can join online even without owning a copy.

Shift Happens suits friends and couples who enjoy communication-heavy co-op, as well as puzzle-platformer fans who want handcrafted levels and time challenges to master. Gamepads are recommended for the smoothest experience.
