Skull and Bones is an open-world naval action RPG developed by Ubisoft Singapore and published by Ubisoft. It launched in February 2024 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and arrived on Steam in August 2024. You play as a pirate captain working your way up from a shipwreck survivor to a feared name across a richly detailed Indian Ocean, with dynamic weather, rough seas, hostile factions and roaming threats.
Combat happens almost entirely at sea. Ship-to-ship battles reward positioning, timing and your weapon loadout, and each ship class has its own role, perks and strengths. You can sail solo or join other captains to take on world events, fortified settlements and pirate hunters in a shared ocean of up to 20 players. Ubisoft keeps adding content through seasonal updates, including new threats and mythical encounters. Players who loved the naval sections of Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag will recognize the inspiration.
