Sniper Elite VR is a first-person stealth shooter developed by Just Add Water and published by Rebellion. Built only for virtual reality, it was released on July 8, 2021 for PC VR headsets and PlayStation VR on PS4, with a version for Meta Quest headsets too. It brings the series' signature sniping to VR.

The setting is Southern Italy in 1943. Fascist forces occupy the region, and you fight for the Italian Resistance as an elite sniper. The campaign is a standalone story built for VR, separate from the main numbered games.

Shooting is physical. You raise the rifle, look down the scope, and handle reloads with your hands, while realistic ballistics mean distance and bullet drop matter. Free movement lets you sneak, flank, and pick vantage points instead of staying on rails.

The campaign has 18 replayable missions. The armory covers historically accurate rifles, submachine guns, pistols, shotguns, grenades, and explosives. The signature X-ray kill-cam returns, rebuilt to show a well-placed shot in VR. Steam leaderboards add a reason to replay missions for better scores.

Sniper Elite VR is single-player and requires a VR headset; it cannot be played on a flat screen. It suits series fans who own VR hardware and want a slower, more tactical shooter.

Which version should you buy?

• PC VR (Steam): Most PC keys activate on Steam and work with SteamVR headsets. A VR headset and tracked controllers are required.
