Sol Cresta is a vertical scrolling shoot 'em up developed and published by PlatinumGames, the studio behind Bayonetta and NieR:Automata. Released in February 2022 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, it is the first entry in the studio's Neo-Classic Arcade line, which pairs retro presentation with modern design. The game follows the 1980s classics Moon Cresta and Terra Cresta and builds on their ship-docking idea.
After humanity loses the Moon and Earth to the Mandler Army, the solar recovery squad Sol Cresta strikes back from Laomedeia, Neptune's 12th moon. You pilot the Yamato, made of three fighters named Amaterasu, Tsukuyomi and Susano. The core hook is free-form docking: you start with one ship, collect items to call in the others, then dock, split and re-arrange them to change your attack pattern on the fly. Chiptune veteran Yuzo Koshiro composed the music, and Caravan Mode adds a time-limited score attack with online leaderboards.
Shooter fans and high-score chasers get the most out of it, and a Sol Cresta CD key from a trusted seller keeps the cost down. See the official Sol Cresta page for trailers and DLC news.
