Sunderfolk is a turn-based tactical RPG developed by Secret Door and published by Dreamhaven. It was released on April 23, 2025 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch, and it is built around shared game nights for one to four players.
Each player controls a hero on a grid-based battlefield. Instead of fixed abilities, you play skill cards from a hand, choose your turn order as a group, and plan every move together. Missions mix regular enemies with larger boss fights, so coordinating positions and combos is the key to winning.
The standout system is how people play. In couch co-op, everyone uses a phone as their controller through the free Sunderfolk Controller app, which also shows their cards and stats. Players join by scanning a QR code on the shared screen, and only the host needs to own the game. On PC you can also play online with mouse and keyboard, where each player needs their own copy.
Between missions, the party returns to the village of Arden in the Sunderlands. There you upgrade shops, find new gear, share meals, and build relationships with the locals, some of which can turn into romance.
Sunderfolk suits groups who enjoy board games and tabletop RPGs but want the setup handled for them, as well as tactics fans looking for a social co-op campaign.
PC: PC keys usually activate on Steam. Online multiplayer on PC requires every player to own a copy.
Consoles: PS5 codes redeem on PlayStation Network, Xbox codes on a Microsoft account, and Switch codes on the Nintendo eShop.
Couch co-op: For local play with phones, only the host needs a copy. Friends download the free controller app.
Before you buy, check the activation platform and region on each offer, then follow our guide on how to activate your CD key. For more details, visit the official Sunderfolk website.
