Battles use the Liberation Linear Motion Battle System, a real-time combat system where you chain artes into combos and use Soul Gauge resources to unleash powerful Break Souls. Characters can be swapped during fights, and up to four players can join in local co-op.

The remaster adds quality-of-life features such as early access to the Grade Shop, destination icons, and the option to turn enemy encounters on or off. Bonus content from the original release, such as costumes and items, is also carried over.
