Tales of Spark is a hack-and-slash action RPG developed and published by Ice and Fire Isle Studio. It launched on PC through Steam Early Access on February 4, 2024, so content and features can still change during development.

You take the role of Yuwen Jingzhe, a young swordsman of the Kunlun Sect. The adventure involves exploring a vast desert, searching for treasure and fighting real-time battles against monsters and powerful bosses, including giant celestial dragons. Combat is fast, sword-focused hack-and-slash, with large boss fights as the main test of skill.

The setting draws on Chinese mythology. According to legend, when the goddess Nüwa mended the broken sky, four magic Sparks of fire, thunder, cold and poison were left scattered across the land. Rival factions have fought over them ever since.

The story takes place in the early Tang dynasty, when MangZi, a young witch of the Moonwatcher clan, arrives at Kunlun asking for help after a blood moon appears. Tales of Spark is a single-player game with Steam Cloud saves. Voice acting is available in Chinese, while text supports English, Russian, Japanese and Korean.

It suits players who enjoy action RPGs with an Eastern fantasy theme and do not mind joining a game still in Early Access. A separate title, Tales of Spark: Probation, has its own Steam page.

• PC (Steam): Keys activate on Steam. Tales of Spark is a PC-only release.
