The game continues the story of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem film. Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo head out of the sewers to face a new threat to New York City.

You switch between all four brothers, each with a signature weapon and fighting style. Combat chains together combos and special moves, while skill upgrades unlock new abilities as you progress.

Between fights you explore areas of the city and complete side challenges. Two players can team up in local split-screen co-op.

The art style follows the hand-sketched look of the Mutant Mayhem film, and the controls are designed to be easy for younger players to learn. Extra content has been released since launch, including a Season Pass and themed character packs such as a 1987 Animated Series look for the brothers. On PC, the game supports Steam Remote Play Together, so a friend can join the local co-op session over the internet.
