The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition is an open-world role-playing game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. The base game launched on March 20, 2006, and this edition adds its two official expansions. On PC, it is sold for Windows.
The story begins in a prison cell beneath the Imperial City. After the Emperor is assassinated, you are tasked with finding his hidden heir while gates to the demonic realm of Oblivion open across the province of Cyrodiil. You can follow the main quest or ignore it and explore at your own pace.
Character growth is skill-based: the skills you use, such as blade, destruction magic, or sneaking, improve as you play. You can fight in first or third person, cast spells, craft potions, and create custom spells and enchantments.
A large part of the game lives in its factions. You can join the Fighters Guild, Mages Guild, Thieves Guild, and Dark Brotherhood, each with its own long questline. The Knights of the Nine expansion adds a holy crusade, while Shivering Isles opens a new land ruled by the Daedric Prince of Madness.
Oblivion is single-player only and suits players who enjoy open-ended exploration, classic RPG questing, and modding, since the PC version has a large modding community.
PC: Most keys for this edition activate on Steam. It runs on Windows and needs about 4.6 GB of storage.
