The Isle is an open-world survival game developed and published by Afterthought LLC, set in a vast and unforgiving prehistoric landscape. Unlike traditional survival games, The Isle puts players directly in control of dinosaurs — or humans — as they fight to eat, drink, grow, and survive against both the environment and other players.
First released in Early Access on Steam in December 2015, The Isle has grown into a uniquely immersive experience driven by its realistic ecosystem simulation. Players begin as hatchlings and must grow into fully mature creatures by surviving long enough to eat, rest, and avoid predators — making every session feel genuinely high-stakes.
The game features two distinct playable modes — Evrima (the newer, more polished build) and the legacy Legacy build — each offering different playable species and gameplay systems.
