The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante is a narrative-driven RPG developed by Sever with Schisma Games and published by 101XP. It released on PC on March 4, 2021, followed by PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on February 10, 2022.
The game is told through the pages of the hero's journal. You follow one life from birth to adulthood in the Arknian Empire, a strict society where the Twin Gods divide people into nobles, clergy, and commoners, each called a Lot. Your character starts as a commoner, with no rights and no title, and the story covers childhood, youth, and adult life.
Each chapter presents written scenes and choices. Your decisions shape your skills, relationships, and position, and the game tracks them to build a unique path through the story. Many choices have a real cost, and some can end in death. Your stats and earlier decisions decide which options are open to you, so each path closes some doors and opens others.
You decide whether to accept your place in the Empire or fight to change it. Paths include becoming an inquisitor or a judge, or conspiring against the old order.
Sir Brante suits readers of interactive fiction and players who like choice-heavy, text-based RPGs with mature, serious themes. It is single-player and has no combat sections.
PC (Steam): PC keys activate on Steam and run on modest hardware.
