Durin's Folk is a story expansion for The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria, the survival crafting game developed by Free Range Games and published by North Beach Games. It launched on November 18, 2025 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and it continues the adventure after the main story ends.
Once the Dimrill Gate is open, your company of dwarves takes on a new role as rulers of Moria. The goal shifts from simply surviving to bringing Khazad-dûm back to life and repopulating its halls, so base building and resource planning matter more than before.
The biggest change is the arrival of NPCs. You can recruit dwarves who help you build, fight and mine, which frees you to focus on exploration. A new trading system lets you exchange Moria's valuables for goods from beyond the Misty Mountains, and Expeditions send you on quests for rare rewards.
For the first time, you also explore locations outside the mountain, and you revisit parts of Moria to uncover secrets you may have missed. The developers describe up to 20 additional hours of gameplay, along with new enemies waiting in the depths.
Like the base game, the expansion supports solo play and online co-op, so groups that already finished the campaign together can continue as a team. It suits players who enjoyed Return to Moria's mining and building loop and want a longer end-game with more structure.
