Tin Hearts is a narrative puzzle adventure developed by Rogue Sun and published by Wired Productions. It arrived on Nintendo Switch in April 2023 and on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One in May 2023. The studio includes members of the team behind Fable.
Puzzles work in a Lemmings-like way. A troop of tin soldiers marches forward on its own, and you place and rotate toys, blocks and inventions to build a safe path to the goal. Many puzzles have more than one valid solution, and you can rewind or pause time to adjust your setup before the soldiers walk into danger. Careful planning matters more than quick reflexes.
More than 50 puzzles are spread across four acts set in a grand Victorian house. New inventions appear as you progress, letting soldiers bounce, glide and fly, so the puzzles keep changing from the garden to the inventor's basement workshop.
Tin Hearts is a single-player game. The story follows the genius toymaker Albert J. Butterworth and is told through memories, photographs and handwritten letters, touching on family, love and loss. On PC it also supports VR headsets through OpenXR.
It suits players who like relaxed, thoughtful puzzle games with an emotional story rather than action or time pressure, and it is a gentle pick for families or anyone new to the genre.
