Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is a life simulation game developed by Nintendo EPD and published by Nintendo for Nintendo Switch, released on April 16, 2026. It is the follow-up to the original Tomodachi Life on Nintendo 3DS and is also playable on Nintendo Switch 2.
You create Mii residents, give them looks and personalities, and move them onto an island that you look after. From there, the game is mostly about watching what they do. Residents chat, form friendships, start relationships, argue, and ask you for help with food, clothes, and small personal problems.
The island grows as you play. Facilities such as the Supermarket, Clothes Shop, News Station, and Photo Studio add things to do, while the Palette House and Studio Workshop let you design your own items. You can also arrange the island layout yourself and house up to eight residents together under one roof.
This is a single-player game with no online play. Local wireless lets you swap Miis and items you have made with friends nearby, and Nintendo Switch Online members get Save Data Cloud backup.
It suits players who like relaxed, humor-driven sims such as Animal Crossing, families, and anyone who enjoys creating characters of friends and celebrities and seeing how they get along.
