Total Chaos is a first-person survival horror game developed by Trigger Happy Interactive and published by Apogee Entertainment. It was released on November 20, 2025 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, followed by a Nintendo Switch 2 version on April 29, 2026.
The project grew out of the acclaimed Doom II total conversion mod of the same name, rebuilt as a full standalone game. A sudden storm leaves you shipwrecked on Fort Oasis, a deserted island facility. Cryptic radio messages from someone who seems to be a friend pull you deeper inside.
Survival is built on scavenging. You collect scraps, craft makeshift weapons, and upgrade them to stand a chance against the creatures stalking the island. Resources are limited, so each fight needs care, and sometimes avoiding a threat is the smarter choice. A low-poly retro visual mode was announced in 2026 as a nod to the original mod.
The story unfolds across nine chapters through notes, visuals, and unsettling encounters, as reality on the island starts to bend. The soundtrack includes music from Akira Yamaoka, known for the Silent Hill series. Total Chaos is a single-player experience.
It suits fans of classic survival horror, slow-burn mysteries, and games where crafting and careful exploration matter.
PC: PC keys usually activate on Steam. A Microsoft Store version also exists, so check which store a listing covers.
