Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree is a roguelite action game developed by Brownies Inc. and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. It launched in September 2025 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch, with the PC version activating on Steam.

You play as Towa, who sends guardians out to fight the forces of Magatsu. Each run takes a pair of guardians into a changing world, where you battle enemies, collect rewards and push deeper before returning to Shinju Village.

The standout idea is controlling two characters together: one handles close-range sword attacks while the other supports with magic. Between runs, a hands-on smithing system lets you forge and temper new swords, and stronger bonds with villagers unlock fresh options.

The game can be played solo, and it also supports two-player co-op both locally on one screen and online. The story is set in a Japanese-inspired fantasy realm and features full English and Japanese voice acting.

Because each run changes, no two expeditions play out the same way. Choosing which guardians to pair, which blade to bring and which upgrades to take shapes your build, and returning to Shinju Village between runs lets you prepare for the next attempt. The PC version supports controllers, Steam Cloud saves, achievements and leaderboards, and a free demo was released before launch so players could try the combat first.

It suits players who enjoy fast roguelite combat with light character building, and friends looking for a stylish action game to share on the couch or online.
