Trials of Mana is an action role-playing game published by Square Enix. It is a full 3D remake of Seiken Densetsu 3, a 1995 Super Famicom game that first reached Western players in 2019. The remake launched on April 24, 2020 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch, and arrived on Xbox Series X|S in September 2024.
You begin by choosing one main hero and two companions from a cast of six: Duran, Angela, Kevin, Charlotte, Hawkeye, and Riesz. Each hero has a personal opening chapter, so the trio you pick shapes the story beats, the final villain, and how your party fights.
Combat happens in real time. You chain light and heavy attacks, jump, dodge, and switch between party members, while the Ring Command menu pauses the action so you can use items and spells. Class changes let each character branch into light or dark specializations with new abilities and looks.
The game is single-player only. The remake adds a post-game story chapter with an extra class tier, New Game+ that keeps levels and items, and higher difficulty options, which gives you reasons to replay with a different team.
Trials of Mana suits fans of classic JRPG stories who prefer fast action combat over turn-based battles. It is also a good next step for players who enjoyed Secret of Mana and want the series' bright, colorful world in modern 3D.
PC: Most PC keys activate on Steam. A Windows version is also sold through the Xbox app on PC, so check which store a key is for.

Original game: This is the 2020 remake. The 16-bit original is only included in the separate Collection of Mana, not in this product.
