Turbo Overkill is a fast-paced first-person shooter developed by Trigger Happy Interactive and published by Apogee Entertainment. After Early Access, it fully launched on PC on August 11, 2023, and versions for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch followed in January 2025.
You play as Johnny Turbo, a half-human, half-machine bounty hunter who returns to his hometown of Paradise. The city has been taken over by Syn, a rogue AI that controls an army of augmented cyborgs, and rival hunters want the reward for stopping it too. The neon cyberpunk setting draws on classic 1990s shooters such as Doom, Quake, and Duke Nukem 3D.
Speed is the core of the game. You wall-run, dash, use a grappling hook, and slide on a chainsaw that extends from your leg to cut through enemies. Turbo Time slows the action down, and you can even surf on the roofs of flying cars. The arsenal includes more than 15 weapons, such as lock-on Twin Magnums, a shotgun with a grenade launcher, and the Telefragger sniper rifle.
The campaign is single-player and spread across around two dozen stages with secrets and bosses. On PC, a built-in level editor and Steam Workshop support let players create and share their own maps.
Turbo Overkill suits fans of retro-style "boomer shooters", speedrunners, and players who want fast movement and loud, over-the-top action.
PC: Most PC keys activate on Steam, which also gives access to the level editor and Workshop maps. About 5 GB of storage is needed.
Consoles: PlayStation codes redeem on PlayStation Network, Xbox codes on a Microsoft account, and Switch codes on the Nintendo eShop.
Extras: A soundtrack and a prequel comic are sold separately as add-ons. Check what each listing includes.
