Ultimate Chicken Horse is a competitive party platformer developed and published by Clever Endeavour Games. It launched on PC on March 4, 2016, and later arrived on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, with native macOS and Linux versions on Steam.
Each round has two phases. First, every player picks a block from a random selection and places it on the stage, whether that is a platform, a spinning saw, a crossbow or a black hole. Then everyone races from start to flag. Reaching the goal scores points, but only if at least one rival fails, so the best traps are the ones you can just barely survive yourself.
The block library is large, and rule sets let groups tweak scoring, block counts and level themes. A full level editor lets players build and share custom stages, while Challenge levels track global best times across platforms.
Up to four players can join online or on the same screen, and cross-platform play connects PC and console groups. The game is built around multiplayer: Party Mode and most unlocks need other players, though solo players can still tackle Challenge levels.
The cartoon cast includes a chicken, horse, sheep, raccoon and other animals. It suits friend groups, couch sessions and streamers who enjoy chaotic, quick-fire rounds.
Because the level grows with every round, no two matches play out the same way. A stage that starts as a simple run can end up packed with crossbows, honey, ice and teleporters. Clever placement, timing and a little luck all decide who comes out on top when the points are added up at the end of each round.
PC (Steam): A PC key activates on Steam and includes the Windows, macOS and Linux builds.
Consoles: PS4, Xbox One and Switch codes redeem on PSN, the Microsoft Store or the Nintendo eShop.
Cross-play: Online lobbies can mix PC and console players.
