UnMetal is a 2D top-down stealth action-adventure developed by Francisco Téllez de Meneses (unepic_fran), the creator of Unepic, and published by Versus Evil. It released on September 28, 2021 for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

You play Jesse Fox, who is definitely not an elite commando, after he is arrested for a crime he did not commit. To escape a covert military base, he sneaks past guards, takes enemies down quietly, and improvises gadgets from whatever he finds.

The story is framed as an interrogation. Jesse explains events to a lieutenant, and some of your choices change how the tale unfolds. Stealth takedowns earn experience and new skills, and boss fights test what you have learned.

The tone is pure satire, packed with references to classic stealth games, movies, and pop culture. It is a single-player game with full voice acting in English and Spanish.

Before the PC and console release, UnMetal launched on PlayStation Vita in April 2021 as a limited physical run, and lessons from that version were used to polish the later ports. On Steam it offers full controller support, trading cards, and cloud saves. Text is available in eleven languages, including French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, and Arabic. Hardware needs are very low, so it runs well on older PCs and laptops.

It suits fans of retro stealth games and comedy who want a lighter take on the genre.
