Battles play out on grid maps across land, sea, and sky. You build units from captured structures, position them carefully, and use each unit type's strengths and weaknesses to break the enemy line. Every army is led by a Commander who fights on the field.

The signature Groove ability returns with a new tiered system. Each Commander has a unique special skill, and you can now charge it further for a stronger effect. A new faction, the Faahri Republic, a nation of curious mouse-folk with crystal technology, joins the cast.

The story spans 3 campaigns that form one connected tale set three years after the first game. Conquest is a new roguelike single-player mode where gold, health, and units carry between quick battles. Up to four players can fight in co-op or versus matches, locally or online, with asynchronous play supported. Editors let you create and share maps, cutscenes, and full campaigns.
