Worms Armageddon: Anniversary Edition is a console re-release of the 1999 turn-based artillery game, developed by Team17 with Digital Eclipse and published by Team17. It launched on September 26, 2024, for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
Teams of worms take turns firing at each other across destructible 2D landscapes. You aim, judge the wind and pick from more than 55 weapons and tools, including the Earthquake, Freeze and French Sheep Strike. The last team standing wins. Terrain can be blown apart, so a well-placed shot can drop an enemy into the water or open a new route for your own team.
Solo players get a campaign of more than 40 missions plus single-player Deathmatch. Multiplayer supports up to six players locally or online, with options such as Allied Teams, Handicapping, Worms Disease and Home Runs. Online play is cross-generation within each console family.
The Anniversary Edition adds a redesigned interface, controller support for every console, modern aspect ratios, screen filters and a new save system. It also includes an interactive museum with developer interviews and a fully playable Game Boy Color version of the game.
It suits longtime Worms fans, newcomers curious about the series' roots, and groups looking for a turn-based party game they can play on one console.
Console activation: PlayStation codes redeem on PlayStation Network, Xbox codes on a Microsoft account, and Switch codes on the Nintendo eShop.
No PC version: The Anniversary Edition is console-only. PC players can buy the original Worms Armageddon on Steam.
Online play: Online matches need PlayStation Plus, Nintendo Switch Online or an Xbox online subscription.
Check the platform and region on each offer before buying. If you need help, see how to activate your CD key, or read the official Team17 announcement.
