Yakuza 0 Director's Cut is an action-adventure game developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and published by SEGA. It launched first on Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5, 2025, then on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on December 8, 2025.
Set in 1988 Japan, the story follows two rising figures of the series, Kazuma Kiryu in Tokyo and Goro Majima in Osaka, as each is pulled into a violent dispute over a small plot of land. The game alternates between both men across the neon-lit entertainment districts of both cities.
Combat is fast street brawling. Kiryu and Majima each have three fighting styles you can switch between mid-fight, and the cities are packed with side stories, minigames, and business management activities between story chapters.
The Director's Cut adds never-before-seen cutscenes that give deeper insight into key incidents and character backstories. It also brings Red Light Raid, an online multiplayer mode where friends team up, choose from 60 playable characters, and fight hordes of enemies. Red Light Raid arrived in a post-launch update. The main story is single-player.
It suits newcomers looking for the best starting point in the Yakuza and Like a Dragon series, and fans who want the most complete version of a series favorite.
