On the same day it launches on PlayStation 5 and joins the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog. After 15 months in Early Access on Steam and a Very Positive user score, the 1.0 launch puts the game in front of a much bigger console audience. What Is Mycopunk About?
You play as a member of the New Atlas Hazard Crew, a squad of decommissioned robots hired by the SAXON corporation to clean up a planet-wide fungal outbreak. Each mission drops your team onto the surface to fight swarms of infected creatures that hijack the planet's technology and turn it against you.
The hook is the build system. Every mission rewards new mods that you slot into grid-based upgrade boards for your weapons and robot. Stack the right pieces and a basic rifle or power tool becomes a ridiculous super-weapon. Builds can lean into support, healing or pure damage, and they stack across the team, which is why players often compare the co-op loop to Helldivers 2 and Deep Rock Galactic. Between missions, your crew hangs out in an orbital dropship hub packed with mini-games and chats with the insectoid SAXON veteran Roachard Cox.
How Has Early Access Gone?
Mycopunk entered Early Access on Steam on July 10, 2025. As of October 9, 2026, it holds a Very Positive rating on Steam, with about 88% of roughly 4,700 user reviews recommending it. Players highlight the build variety, chaotic co-op and low price. The most common requests have been more content and a larger console player base, which the PS5 launch should help with.
Mycopunk on PS5 and PS Plus Extra
Sony confirmed during State of Play that Mycopunk will be a day-one addition to the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog. That makes it the first confirmed PS Plus Extra game for October 2026, with the rest of the month's lineup due on October 14. PS Plus Essential members do not get it as part of their tier.
Devolver has not confirmed crossplay between PC and PS5 yet, so check the official announcement before planning a mixed-platform squad.
