A Way Out is a cinematic action adventure from Hazelight Studios, the Swedish team led by Josef Fares, and published by Electronic Arts under the EA Originals label. It launched in March 2018 on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and arrived on Steam in June 2020. The game is built for exactly two players: there is no single-player mode, and the whole story plays out in split screen, either on one couch or online.
You and a partner control Leo, a hardened inmate, and Vincent, a newcomer fresh off the prison bus. Their uneasy alliance starts with a breakout and turns into a road trip full of chases, stealth sections, driving scenes, fistfights and quiet character moments, including side activities such as fishing and mini-games. Many puzzles need both players to act at the same time, and the story often asks you to choose between Leo's direct approach and Vincent's more careful plan.
Hazelight later built on the same co-op formula with It Takes Two. Buying an A Way Out CD key is a low-cost way to play a story-driven co-op game with a friend, and the Friend's Pass lets your partner join online without buying a second copy. Visit the official A Way Out page for trailers and details.
