What is Alice: Madness Returns?

Alice: Madness Returns is a third-person action adventure platformer developed by Spicy Horse Games under creative director American McGee and published by Electronic Arts on June 17, 2011. It is the sequel to American McGee's Alice (2000) and picks up eleven years after a fire killed Alice Liddell's family. Freshly released from Rutledge Asylum and still haunted by that night, she drifts between the grim streets of Victorian London and a Wonderland that has started to fall apart.

Gameplay mixes melee and ranged combat with platforming and puzzle rooms. You carry upgradeable weapons such as the Vorpal Blade, the Hobby Horse and the explosive Teapot Cannon, and you use Wonderland abilities to float with Alice's dress, shrink to find hidden paths or grow large enough to crush enemies. Familiar characters return in twisted form, including the Cheshire Cat, the Mad Hatter, the Caterpillar and the Red Queen. The campaign is single-player only and earned a Metacritic score of 75 on PC.
