Aloft is a cozy survival sandbox game developed by Astrolabe Interactive and published by Funcom. It entered Steam Early Access on January 15, 2025 for PC, and the developer is working toward a full 1.0 release.

The world is made of floating islands above a sea of clouds. Any island can become a skyship: add a helm, rudder, and sails, and you can fly it across the sky to explore, gather resources, and find ancient ruins that hold lost knowledge. A dangerous hurricane sits at the center of the world, waiting for players brave enough to sail their island straight into it.

A fungal corruption is spreading through the islands. You fight mushroom creatures, brew antidotes for sick animals, and restore each island's biodiversity, which unlocks rare resources and makes it more resistant. Wind plays a big role too, powering windmills and pulley systems that automate production.

Survival is gentle and rewards positive actions more than it punishes mistakes. You can farm crops, cook meals for buffs, care for animals, and build and decorate your home island. An island creator lets you design your own islands and share them through Steam Workshop.

Aloft can be played solo or in online co-op with up to 8 players, and you can bring your island base when you join a friend's world. It suits fans of relaxed crafting and building games.

Which version should you buy?

• PC: PC keys activate on Steam. The game is currently in Early Access, so content and features are still being added.

• Extras: An optional Supporter Pack is sold separately and requires the base game.
