ARK: Survival Evolved is an open-world survival game from Studio Wildcard that left Early Access in August 2017. You start naked, cold and hungry on the shores of a mysterious island called ARK, and every hour after that is about staying fed, warm and alive. You harvest wood, stone and fiber, research technologies as you level up, and build anything from a thatch hut to a fortified base with walls and turrets.
The main draw is the wildlife. More than 100 creatures, including dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals, can be knocked out and tamed. Tamed creatures follow commands, carry inventory, fight for your tribe and can be ridden, from raptors to flying pteranodons and a T-Rex. You can also breed them to pass on stronger stats. Play alone, host a private server for friends, or join large official and community servers with PvE and PvP rules, Steam Workshop mods and a full level editor.
The base game ships with The Island map, and story expansions such as Scorched Earth, Aberration, Extinction and Genesis add new maps and creatures. An ARK: Survival Evolved CD key is a cheap entry point into the series; players after modern Unreal Engine 5 visuals can look at the remake ARK: Survival Ascended, while PixARK offers a voxel-style spin-off. See the official ARK website for news and server info.
Creature Taming: Knock out and tame more than 100 creatures, then use them to fight, carry loot, gather resources or travel by land, sea and air.
Breeding System: Mate tamed creatures to raise offspring that inherit stats, through egg incubation or mammal gestation.
Deep Survival Needs: Manage food, water, temperature and carry weight while a day and night cycle and weather change the conditions.
Base Building: Build structures from thatch to metal, add crafting stations and defenses, and protect your tribe's territory.
Online Tribes: Join official or community servers with PvE or PvP rules, or host a private server for friends.
Expansion Maps: Paid expansions such as Scorched Earth, Aberration, Extinction and Genesis add new biomes, creatures and story content.
Mods and Editor: The PC version supports the Steam Workshop and includes a level editor for custom maps and mods.
