Axiom Verge 2 is a side-scrolling action-exploration game, often called a metroidvania, created by Thomas Happ Games, the studio of Axiom Verge designer Thomas Happ. It first launched on August 11, 2021, and the Steam version followed on August 11, 2022. The game shares a universe with the first Axiom Verge but tells a standalone story with new characters, powers and enemies, so you can play it before or after the original. An Axiom Verge 2 CD key gives you the full single-player adventure.
You play Indra, the billionaire head of the Globe 3 conglomerate, who travels to Antarctica to find her missing daughter. Instead she ends up in an ancient, Earth-like world full of high-tech ruins and parasitic machines that both help and hinder her. A voice on a computer terminal goads her forward. Where the first game leaned on gunplay, this sequel puts more weight on melee weapons, climbing, hacking enemies and exploring a large interconnected map.
A remote drone lets you enter the Breach, a parallel reality linked to the main world with its own hazards and routes. Hidden items and upgrades reward players who search every corner. The game runs on modest hardware, supports Windows and Linux on Steam, and has full controller support. See the official Axiom Verge 2 site for the manual and press kit.
