Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition is a restored version of the 1997 adventure game made by Westwood Studios, the team behind Command & Conquer. Nightdive Studios rebuilt it for modern systems and released it on June 23, 2022, with Nightdive and Atari as publishers. The story takes place in Los Angeles in November 2019, alongside the events of the original film. You play a Blade Runner tracking replicants through rain-soaked streets, and you can end up as both the hunter and the hunted.
Play centers on investigation. You gather clues, run photos through the ESPER analysis machine, give suspects the Voigt-Kampff replicant test, fly a police Spinner and sort evidence in the Knowledge Integration Assistant (KIA). The real-time story structure means characters follow their own agendas, so playthroughs can differ. Actors from the film, including Sean Young, James Hong, Joe Turkel and William Sanderson, return to voice their roles.
The Enhanced Edition adds upscaled VQA video, HD display support, a reworked KIA and clue interface, better subtitles, modern gamepad support, SMAA anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering. The Steam release also includes Blade Runner Classic, the original version running through ScummVM. A Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition CD key suits fans of the film and of classic point-and-click detective games. More details are on the Nightdive Studios website.
