Broforce is a 2D run-and-gun action platformer developed by Free Lives and published by Devolver Digital. It launched on October 15, 2015 for PC and macOS, with Linux, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and later Xbox One versions following.

You command an over-the-top paramilitary team of bros, most of them parodies of famous action movie heroes. Each bro has a unique weapon and special attack, and when you rescue a prisoner you switch to a new random character, which keeps every run unpredictable.

Almost everything in Broforce is destructible. Terrain crumbles under gunfire, explosive barrels set off chain reactions, and you can tunnel through levels instead of following the obvious path. Missions end with a dash to the helicopter, often while the map collapses behind you.

Up to four players can team up in local or online co-op, or turn on each other in competitive deathmatch modes. Explosion Run offers timed challenge levels, and a level editor lets the community share custom stages. The free Broforce Forever update added new bros and missions in 2023.

Broforce suits fans of chaotic couch co-op, retro pixel art, and action-movie humor. Levels are short, so it works well for quick sessions, and each level plays differently depending on which random bros you unlock along the way.
