Caravan SandWitch is a narrative exploration adventure developed by Studio Plane Toast and published by Dear Villagers. It released on September 12, 2024 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.
You play as Sauge, who returns to the planet Cigalo after receiving a distress signal that may come from her missing sister. The world is a sun-bleached, post-apocalyptic landscape inspired by Provence in southern France.
Your van is your main tool. You drive across open terrain, explore ruins on foot, and collect resources and parts. Many areas reward curiosity with side stories and hidden spots worth a detour. Upgrading the van opens new routes and gives you gadgets to reach places you could not get to before.
There is no combat, no death, and no timer. Progress comes from talking to the people of Cigalo, helping them with tasks, and learning about the Reinetos, the robots left behind, and the mysterious SandWitch.
Despite the setting, the tone is hopeful and gentle. Caravan SandWitch suits players who enjoy relaxed open-world exploration, character-driven stories, and short sessions without stress. Its gentle pace also makes it a friendly pick for newer players. On PC, full controller support makes it comfortable to play from the couch or on a handheld.
PC: PC keys activate on Steam. The game needs Windows 10 or 11, 8 GB of RAM, and 5 GB of storage.
Consoles: PS5 codes are redeemed on PlayStation Network, and Switch codes on the Nintendo eShop.
Extras: The soundtrack and Souvenir Shop add-ons are sold separately and need the base game.
