Day of the Tentacle Remastered is a point-and-click puzzle adventure from Double Fine Productions, built with Shiny Shoe and released on March 21, 2016. It restores the 1993 LucasArts classic, the sequel to Ron Gilbert's Maniac Mansion and Tim Schafer's first game as co-project lead. Dr. Fred's mutated Purple Tentacle wants to take over the world, and three unlikely friends, Bernard, Hoagie and Laverne, must stop him.
The hook is time travel. Each friend is stuck in a different era, and you swap between them to solve puzzles that ripple through history: an object left in the past can show up centuries later for another character. The remaster adds new hand-drawn, high-resolution artwork and remastered audio, music and sound effects. You can flip between classic and remastered modes at any time and mix graphics, audio and interface styles. A concept art browser and a commentary track with the original creators round out the package.
A Day of the Tentacle Remastered CD key suits fans of comedy adventures and anyone who enjoyed Double Fine's later work such as Psychonauts 2 or the hand-painted adventure Broken Age. It runs on Windows, macOS and Linux.
