Digimon Survive is a hybrid visual novel and tactical RPG developed by HYDE and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment, released in July 2022 on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. After a school camping trip goes wrong, Takuma Momozuka and his friends are pulled into a strange world full of hostile Digimon, and the group must survive long enough to find a way home.
Most of the game is told through visual novel scenes, exploration and dialogue choices. Those choices raise or lower your bonds with other characters and steer which way partner Digimon evolve, which in turn changes how the story unfolds and ends. When fights break out, the game switches to turn-based tactical battles on a grid, where you position partners, exploit enemy weaknesses and can talk wild Digimon into joining your team. The tone is darker than most Digimon titles, and the PC version earned a Metacritic score of 83.
It suits players who enjoy story-heavy RPGs and strategy combat more than open-world exploration. If you want the series' newer, more traditional RPG entry, see Digimon Story Time Stranger.
