Dune: Spice Wars is a 4X real-time strategy game developed by Shiro Games, the team behind Northgard, and published by Funcom. After an early access period, the full version launched on Steam in September 2023. The game is set on Arrakis, the desert planet from Frank Herbert's novels and the only source of spice, the most valuable resource in the universe.
You lead a faction and compete for control of the planet through four routes to power: open warfare, espionage, political influence and economic supremacy. Ornithopters scout the map for resources and villages, troops expand your territory, and spice harvesters fund your war chest. Sandworms can burst from the dunes and swallow units and harvesters, while storms add more danger. In the Landsraad you vote on political resolutions, and your spy network can sabotage rivals. Iconic characters such as Duke Leto Atreides, Baron Vladimir Harkonnen, Padishah Emperor Shaddam IV, Esmar Tuek and Liet Kynes lead the factions, and councilors let you tune each faction's strengths.
Beyond skirmish matches, the Conquest mode strings scenarios into a campaign with house perks and upgrades, and multiplayer supports 2v2 or free-for-all games for up to four players.
