Eternal Strands is a third-person fantasy action adventure developed and self-published by Yellow Brick Games, the Quebec studio co-founded by former Dragon Age creative director Mike Laidlaw. It launched on January 28, 2025. You play as Brynn, a young Weaver who wears the Mantle, a magical cloak that channels flame, ice and telekinetic force, as she explores a broken world in open zones.
The core of the game is its systemic world. Heat spreads, cold chills and terrain can be destroyed in real time, so fights turn into improvised experiments: hurl a burning tree trunk with telekinesis, raise an ice wall to block an attack, or pin a giant's limb in place before climbing its body to hit weak spots. Colossal enemies such as dragons have to be scaled and outmaneuvered rather than just hit. Weapons and armor are crafted from the creatures you defeat, and there are no locked builds, so you mix powers and gear as you like. Unstable weather and climate effects can change a zone between visits.
