What is Fallout 2?

Fallout 2: A Post Nuclear Role Playing Game is the sequel to the original Fallout, developed by Black Isle Studios and first released in 1998. The current PC edition, published by Bethesda Softworks, arrived on Steam in August 2009. It holds a Metacritic score of 86. The story takes place 80 years after the first game. You play the Chosen One, a descendant of the original Vault Dweller, sent from the primitive village of Arroyo to find a Garden of Eden Creation Kit that can save your people.

Gameplay uses an isometric view with turn-based combat driven by action points. You build a character with the SPECIAL attributes, skills, traits and perks, then decide how to handle each town, faction and quest. Many problems can be solved through talking, sneaking or fighting, and choices change how settlements end up. The wasteland is filled with radiation, mutants, slavers and political schemes that reward careful role-play.
