FlatOut is a demolition racing game developed by Bugbear Entertainment. It first launched in 2004 and arrived on Steam on February 2, 2007, published there by Strategy First. Every race puts you against seven rivals on tracks where fences shatter and tire walls explode. Damage is not cosmetic: dents and broken parts change how your car handles.
The core loop is simple. Win races, earn cash, then buy and upgrade from a roster of 16 cars. Between championship events you can try six stunt minigames such as High Jump, Long Jump, Darts and Bowling, where the goal is to launch your driver through the windshield with a ragdoll physics model. Six destruction arenas add demolition derby events. Local LAN and online multiplayer are supported, and the Steam version adds achievements, trading cards and Workshop support.
FlatOut suits players who want arcade handling with real consequences for contact. Fans who enjoy Bugbear's later work in Wreckfest will recognize the physics-first approach here. A FlatOut CD key is one of the cheapest ways to add this racing classic to your library. Metacritic lists the PC version at 72.
